A Tip for Weight Loss

If you're trying to lose weight, i'd like to offer one piece of advice.  Weigh yourself regularly.  It's the one surefire way to know if you're making progress towards your weight loss goals.

There are those who say that how you look and feel are all that matter and that weighing yourself isn't important or could be potentially discouraging.  I think that's possible, but i also think there is more benefit to weighing than not weighing.  The way you look and feel are very subjective measures based on what's going inside your head or the environment around you.  If  you're feeling low in self-esteem for example, you might feel "fat" even if you've lost 5 lbs since the last time you stepped on a scale.

Using a scale can help you see measurable progress and it isn't subjective.  Even if you're having "one of those days" you can still see progress towards your goals even if you don't necessarily see it when you look in the mirror.  The scale also allows you to keep track of your progress and helps you know when you've reached milestones.

Use a scale, folks and do it regularly (i.e. once again on the same day each week).  It will help!  Oh and always, always, ALWAYS use the same scales and take off your clothes first (down to your undies that is... unless you like to get freaky with it!) so you get an accurate reading.

Pro Tip:
If using an electronic scale, make sure you get three straight readings of the same weight to verify accuracy.  My experience with electronic scales is that they can be quite fickle and unreliable if you are relying only on one reading.

Good luck reaching your weight loss goals and as always, take good care!
